The 31st Spring Herb Festival brings together more than 60 farmers and herbal product specialists from Western North Carolina, East Tennessee, and South Carolina's Upstate.
Herbalists include manufacturers of extracts, tinctures, soaps, salves, and scores of other products, as well as specialists in herbal medicine, cuisine and healthcare.
Herbs and vegetable starts range form the traditional Rosemary, Thyme, Sage and other familiar plants to more exotic French Tarragon, Black Cohosh, Celery Root and other native mountain plants. Many vendors also carry heirloom vegetables such as tomatoes and squashes that pair well with the culinary herbs, as well as decorative garden plants, berry bushes, and soil enhancements.
Classes will be offered on a variety of herb uses and preparations.
The Spring Herb Festival was first held in 1990 at the WNC Farmers Market in Asheville and has grown to b the largest herb focused festival in the United States and Canada. After the Festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, organizers are pleased to be able to bring back the Asheville Spring Herb Festival for a 31st season.
