UPDATE 9/14/18

The N.C. Mountain State Fair will close for 2018 on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. Fair officials made the decision to close the fair early after carefully monitoring the path of Hurricane Florence.

“In the interest of public safety, we have decided to close the 2018 N.C. Mountain State Fair a day early,” said fair manager Matt Buchanan. “We will operate on a normal schedule Friday night, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.”

Friday is Aetna Senior Citizens Day. Seniors, 65 and older, can enjoy free admission all day at the fair. The fair also will hold its Friday Night Frenzy promotion from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. As part of the promotion, fairgoers can purchase a combined gate admission and unlimited-ride ticket for $28.

Saturday is N.C. Education Lottery Day at the fair. Visitors will receive a free promotional scratch-and-win ticket for each adult ticket sold at the gate. On Saturday, gates and rides will open at 9 a.m.

The fair will close for 2018 at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Future updates will be posted on the fair’s website at mountainfair.org and on the fair’s Facebook page.
